Pursuant to Indiana Code 36-2-14, the County Coroner is responsible for the investigation of deaths in the county when in cases of violence; casualty; apparent good health; apparently suspicious, unusual, or unnatural manners; and when a person has been found dead; for issuing certificates of death; for the hiring of a qualified physician or examiner for the purpose of conducting an autopsy; and for other pertinent responsibilities as detailed in I.C. 36-2-14.
